Since conception we have been focused on excellent cuisine. We serve a wide selection of fresh ingredients. We have fantastic steaks, seafood and fresh pasta dishes. Delicate thin crust pizzas and home made Nachos from the wood oven. We have one of the tastiest hamburgers in town.

Our reputation relies on quality and consistency in every aspect of our business. We have fabulous wine dinners with food pairings on a regular basis with one of the locals favorite being the fall harvest dinner.
Fresh Ingredients
Chef Travis Haugen can be spotted at the local farmers markets where he shops for his farm to table cuisine. We support Alaska grown and fresh caught. Copper River Salmon, raw oysters, mussels and Alaska Scallops are some regulars on our daily specials.
Wine & Beer List
Our own wine director and sommelier Amanda Haugen manages our extensive wine list. Over the course of her career, she has received over twenty five Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence. Our Wine Bar features a great wine by the glass program and many local beers and micro brews on tap.

Southside Bistro has a rich history, going back to 1995. Jens Nannestad opened the Bistro after many years in the industry. He was born and raised in Sweden and is a California Culinary Academy graduate with professional experiences in Hotels, Resorts, Cruise ships and many restaurants. In the mid 1980’s he worked with Alaska’s famous Chef Jens Hansen at the Crows Nest Restaurant down town Anchorage. He fell in love with Alaska and returned and settled here in 1993. Over his Bistro tenure he made business partners with Chef Travis Haugen and Wine Director Amanda Haugen. This trio together now runs this fantastic restaurant.
